TCCS Classical Chorus
In June of 2009, Treasure Coast Community Singers launched a new group, the Classical Chorus. This is an auditioned group of singers who love to sing the classical masters’ works. Two concerts were planned for the season; however, there was such support to launch the chorus right away, that Mozart’s “Requiem Mass” was performed on September 11th. This free concert introduced the community to the TCCS Classical Chorus with donations benefiting first responders in the area. Since then the Classical Chorus has presented two concerts a year, performing works from Mendelssohn, Puccini, Vivaldi, Vaughn Williams, Poulenc, Schubert, Rutter and favorite classical anthems.
Requirements to be part of this group are auditioning with the Artistic Director and passing, regular attendance at rehearsals, paying a small membership fee, the purchase of performance attire, and the purchase of classical scores for the performance.
The season for the Classical Chorus begins in September and ends in May with two sets of performances.
It is our desire and a goal to have orchestral accompaniment for each Classical Chorus performance. The performances are enhanced when there is an orchestra and soloists. However, due to the expense involved, it has not always been possible. Recently, we have received grants from Women Supporting the Arts (WSA) and the Florida State Department of Cultural Affairs that have assisted us in providing for an orchestra and soloists for some of our concerts. These grants help defray the cost but we need to ask our patrons to assist us as well. One of be best ways is to attend our concerts and introduce as many of your friends as is possible to join us for an evening or afternoon of wonderful music.
